HPS Crash Bungs

Author: smiler3

Cost: £70

Bought from: HPS(01773 831122)

Installation difficulty: Easy(1hr)

Opinion is divided on crash protectors for your bike. In a low speed spill they'll help save plastic, levers and lights but in a big off they may contribute to a bent frame = right off. If you're going to fit some don't bother with the 'magic mushrooms' as they shatter on first kiss with tarmac and are as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.

The racers use really heavy duty chunks fixed onto the bike using replacement engine mounting bolts. Unless you want to cut the left hand fairing panel with a Dremel, fit the HPS protectors. These have a bracket which offsets the bung forwards.

If you're planning to crash regularly fit hardened engine casings and ART frame protectors too(smiler3).

Installation is simple, requires locktight and the removal of the left hand fairing, torque settings are also given, however if you don't have a wrench available I always use FT=Fecking Tight.

Happy landings people.

HPS protectors do work wonders at slow speed spills I know as I tried mine out and saved lots of coin on fairing etc(trowland).
